This Privacy Policy explains how Nir Rabinovich, operating under the brand The Engine Room (“The Engine Room”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), handles information in connection with Android apps, home-screen widgets, and related app experiences published under The Engine Room.

This Privacy Policy applies to all Android apps and home-screen widgets published by Nir Rabinovich under the brand The Engine Room that link to this Privacy Policy. If a specific app or widget has a separate privacy policy, that separate policy will apply to that app or widget.

2. Apps and widgets covered

This Privacy Policy is intended to cover all Android apps and home-screen widgets published under The Engine Room that link to this page.

Current covered apps/widgets include:

  • Daily Spark

Daily Spark package name:
com.theengineroom.dailyspark

Future Android apps and widgets published under The Engine Room may also use this Privacy Policy, including quote, reflection, utility, productivity, lifestyle, and home-screen widget apps, unless a separate privacy policy is provided for a specific app.

3. No login, account, payment, or profile storage

Our apps and widgets do not require users to create an account or log in.

We do not directly collect or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, payment details, billing details, messages, contacts, photos, files, or precise GPS location.

We do not process payments inside the current apps covered by this Privacy Policy.

We do not store user profiles in our own backend systems.

We do not allow user-generated content.

4. Information that may be collected automatically

Although we do not directly collect account, payment, or profile data, our apps may use third-party services that automatically collect or process certain technical, diagnostic, analytics, advertising, and consent-related data.

This may include:

  • Device identifiers, including advertising identifiers where available
  • App interactions, such as app opens, screen views, widget views, widget interactions, button taps, feature usage, and reflection unlock events
  • Ad interactions, such as ad requests, ad views, rewarded ad completions, and ad-related diagnostics
  • Diagnostics, crash logs, performance data, and error reports
  • Approximate location inferred by Google services, such as from IP address
  • Consent choices related to ads and privacy preferences, where required

The exact data collected may depend on the app, the device, user settings, regional consent requirements, SDK configuration, and the Google services used.

5. Firebase Analytics

We may use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with our apps and widgets.

Firebase Analytics may help us understand events such as app opens, widget views, quote views, reflection unlocks, ad-related events, and general feature usage.

We use this information to improve app quality, measure engagement, understand which features are useful, and support product decisions across The Engine Room apps and widgets.

6. Firebase Crashlytics

We may use Firebase Crashlytics to detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and stability issues.

Crashlytics may collect crash logs, stack traces, device information, operating system information, app version, diagnostic information, and related technical data.

We use this information to improve reliability, fix bugs, and understand stability issues.

7. Google AdMob

We may use Google AdMob to show ads in our apps.

Some apps may use rewarded ads, where users can choose to watch an ad in exchange for unlocking app content or functionality.

For example, Daily Spark uses rewarded ads where users can choose to watch an ad to unlock a reflection.

Google AdMob may collect and process data such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, app interactions, ad requests, ad views, video views, diagnostics, and related advertising data.

AdMob may use this information for advertising, ad measurement, fraud prevention, security, compliance, and service improvement.

8. Google User Messaging Platform and consent choices

Where required, our apps may use Google User Messaging Platform or similar consent tools to show privacy choices related to ads, personalized ads, and data use.

Users may be able to manage certain privacy and ad personalization choices through the consent form, Android device settings, Google settings, or other controls made available by Google.

9. How information is used

Information processed by our apps or by third-party services may be used for:

  • Providing app and widget functionality
  • Showing quotes, reflections, widgets, and related features
  • Measuring app usage and engagement
  • Showing, measuring, and improving ads
  • Detecting crashes and fixing bugs
  • Improving performance and user experience
  • Preventing fraud, abuse, invalid traffic, and security issues
  • Complying with legal, platform, and policy requirements

10. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information.

Information may be processed by third-party service providers used in our apps, including:

  • Google Firebase
  • Google Analytics for Firebase
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Google AdMob
  • Google User Messaging Platform, where applicable

These services may process data according to their own privacy policies, terms, settings, and data handling practices.

11. Data retention

We do not maintain user accounts or user profiles in our own backend systems.

Data collected or processed by Google Firebase, Google Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Google AdMob, and related services is retained according to Google’s policies, settings, and retention practices.

Crash, analytics, consent, and advertising data may be retained for as long as needed to provide analytics, diagnostics, fraud prevention, security, compliance, advertising, and app improvement.

12. Children

Our apps and widgets are not directed to children.

The apps and widgets covered by this Privacy Policy are intended for users aged 18 and older.

We do not knowingly direct our apps, widgets, advertising, or content to children.

13. International users

Our apps and widgets may be available globally.

Data may be processed in countries other than the country where the user lives. These countries may have different data protection laws.

14. User choices

Users may control certain data and advertising settings through:

  • Android device privacy settings
  • Google ad personalization settings
  • Consent choices shown in the app, where available
  • App permissions and system settings
  • Uninstalling the app

15. Data deletion and privacy requests

Because our apps do not require user accounts and we do not store user profiles in our own backend systems, we may not be able to identify data related to a specific individual without additional information.

Users may contact us with privacy or deletion requests at:

privacy@theengineroom.store

We will review requests and respond as required by applicable law.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we update it, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.

When we publish additional Android apps or widgets under The Engine Room, we may update the “Apps and widgets covered” section of this Privacy Policy.
